It may be a case of trial and error, to discover what works for you. Physical exercise - Exercise is probably the top cure for me. Just get away from you desk and do something relatively physical, like some push-ups, going for a brisk walk or dancing around your office. What ever suits you, really. This natural high will stimulate your thought processes and hopefully cure the creative block. Change your focus - When I say this, I mean concentrate on something different to what you're doing. This could be changing what project you're working, reading a news article or tidying your desk. Could be anything that takes your thought process away from the task you are struggling with. External input - If you work in a team or have somebody around you can speak to. There is no harm in asking for their opinion. Sometimes all it takes is another person to point you in the right direction and inspire your creativity. This will only work if that person is truthful, be prepared for them to criticise your work. Criticism is one of the most helpful forms of advice. We don't see things the same so hearing another individual's perspective can be just want we need, to make some adjustments, and get our creativity back on track. Music - This cure for creative block may not work for everyone but it does sometimes help me. If I'm struggling to make progress on a project, I'll put on some earphones, put on some music and turn up the volume. Music can inspire different through processes and change your emotional state. This change could just be what you need to get out of that creative rut.
